Full HD

Full HD, often referred to as 1080p is a television (TV) display technology that surpasses the video quality and sharpness of the original high-definition television (HDTV) technology, providing an image resolution of 1920 by 1080 pixels. At present the most common mediums that provides this type of advanced picture quality are HD DVD, Blu-Ray DVD, Playstation 3 and Xbox video games that bear either the Full HD mark or the 1080p label.

Screen Format

A widescreen image has a wider and shorter aspect ratio than the standard 4:3 and is becoming more and more popular with the advent of high definition (HD) content. The 4:3 format is slowing being phased out. The 4:3 ratio describes an image as four units wide to three units tall.
