Hotpoint EG94X Dual Fuel Cooker

We've had this cooker a week now and I can honestly say it is fantastic! It is built like you could drop it from your roof and it would come to no harm. We upgraded to this from a cheepy gas cooker and the difference in the temperature zones in the oven is amazing. Gone are the hotspots and flat sponges, I have even baked fresh bread in this new oven and it rose perfectly.

The controls are little odd at first and the booklet doesn't make it clear exactly how each program works. I had to actually try it out to find out that the 'rise' function just keeps the oven at a warm room temperature. That said, once the dough was 'proved' (I took to mean 'risen'), the automatic bread setting did exactly what it said on the tin!

The hob is fierce compared to our old cooker but the extra power is excellent for the wok and frying pans. The hob makes best advantage of the available 600mm width and I can get two large frying pans side-by-side with ease.

There are cheaper convection ovens on the market, but I have been buying Hotpoint/Indesit products for years and tend to find them on the whole very reliable.
