Best PVR around! 24/1/2008

Has to be the best PVR around. Easy to set-up, easy to use and Humax continue to upgrade the software every few months, so you keep getting added functionality. We're just about to leave the UK and are heading to a country where our Hummy won't work - and I'm dreading going back to a DVD recorder. Let's hope there's nothing on worth recording! If you're looking for a PVR, get this one - you will not be disappointed.

This is a fantastic machine. Dependable, easy to use, quiet and looks good too. Had a Digifusion for a month before it died. The hard drive whined, the menu would freeze and it too 30sec to warm up upon turning it on. Although the Humax was an extra £50 it was money well spent.
Would be perfect if it had Videoplus style recording capabilities. (weekly shows whos times vary slightly are affected) also would be good to create folders in the recorded programmes section so you may organise your saved recordings.
Despite this after a year I am still very happy and am even urging my dad to purchase one.

I've had this box for 12 months now. Some early life problems with the Freeview channels are all now fixed thanks to updates available from Humax that have also added new features.

Would recommend one to anyone that can receive Freeview through an arial. Only reason not to get one is if you are mainly a Sky or Cable user and want the extra payTV channels.

I've had the PVR for six months. It has failed to let me down, unlike the digifusion it replaced. The last update which allowed the the timer settings to be altered (recordings can be set to start prior to schedule times and continue to record after) was the icing on the cake. The favourite and weekly timer settings are also kept following updates (unlike my Panasonic EZ75ED!!). I've recently had my cable TV box removed 'cos the Hummax does everything I want. It loses one point for having a 7-day event viewer, the Digimax had a 14-day viewer.

Software updates have addressed most of the bugs and niggles, and added new features - further updates are planned. I have had one since March and have had few problems. The EPG still takes time to populate after the box has been switched off (but its possible to set a timer to turn it on every day before you want to watch).

Its rumoured that a future update will save the EPG to hard disk on power-off.I think its excellent that Humax are providing updates to existing owners, rather than just producing a new
improved model.

I bought this pvr in January and soon realised that it had some irritating bugs. When recording radio programmes on a daily basis, it recorded the first and seemed to be recording the next day but the recording had disappeared from the list when I came to watch it. Other recordings also disappeared. It often freezes while watching, fast forwarding and rewinding and it has also happened in time shift which is particularly irritating as you cannot get back to the point that you were currently watching and have effectively missed the show. The EPG does not populate until after about 10 to 20 mins and then some of the channels often have missing information. I called Humax in January and they are aware of these problems and said that a software fix was currently being developed and would be available in about 4 weeks. 3 months late the fix is still no nearer so I took it back and got my money back!

Best box Out There 30/1/2006

We have Had my 9200T for 4 months now and its is an excellent piece of kit. The 9200 is very reliable although there are some posts where people have mentioned one or two mishaps - but ours has served us well especially over the busy Christmas period.
Its the best looking PVR on the market too, clean and simple + the added bonus of USB and High Quality no compression recording (There is no quality difference between a live TV program and a recorded one unlike other boxes). The 9200 is packed full of features such as the 2hour time shift recorder, Picture in Picture and twin recording facility, in fact its allot better than the Sky+ box from Sky. You can record 2 programs at once too and watch a previous recording or even a live channel at the same time. Build quality is great too - very heavy and firm feel to the machine. Like a computer there is an inbuilt fan, - no noise at all can be heard from it unless the machine is sitting in a wood shelf/cabinet where a quiet humming can be heard (not the machines fault + a rubber mouse mat or cardboard underneath will do the trick). On the downside (why its 9 out of 10) we have had two crashes at first- no recordings are lost however, but as its still relatively new to the market Humax needs to iron out some issues. Hopefully when the first Over-Air update comes out some problems and niggles will disappear such as the slow population of the EPG - but there's nothing massively disruptive.
